Langdale Pikes, continued

We reached the top all too soon and had a snack and a drink. Our next stop was a hill called Harrison Stickle, a short walk away. We had a small scramble to get to the top of Harrison, and the views from there were impressive--though too hazy to come out in photographs. To the west the haze looked like mist and rain on the hill tops. and we decided to miss the next top, Pike o' Stickle, which was a short walk away. The view wouldn't get any better, and Mary Ellen already had a couple of small blisters.

ME and Harrison Stickle

We headed down the path alongside a stream called Dungeon Ghyll, and the wind picked up and nearly blew us off balance a couple of times. As we continued down, the wind died off and the sky over Landale cleared a bit. The view improved, although it was still shrouded off to the west.

On the way down

We finished the walk and headed immediately to the pub for lunch. We agreed that the best part of the day was the scramble up Jack's Rake--a surprise to me, because Mary Ellen has, as she reminded me several times, a fear of exposed heights...

After lunch and a refreshing beverage

Snack and slurp

The walk was 4 miles, at most, and took 4 hours. Harrison Stickle is 736 meters. A pint of Cameron Traditional Bitter at the finish is priceless.
