Billy Goat Trail, February, 2001

Little Brother and I went on a hike on the aptly-named Billy Goat Trail along the Potomac River. We walked along the C&O Canal for a bit, then through the woods toward the river. We had to climb around and over lots of rocks.

Little Brother leads the way

We kept near the river, following the blue marks that showed the trail. When we came to a high spot, we stopped for refreshments. We had come prepared with peanut butter crackers and water.

The pause that refreshes

We enjoyed the view for a while, then pressed on.

Little Brother had a great time scrambling over the rocks, but they were taking their toll.

Little Brother conquers another big rock

By the time we reached the canal again, he was exhausted. I carried him the final mile or so to the car. All in all, an excellent afternoon.
