More Wales, May, 2000

After Caernarfon, we drove to Llanberis and took the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the top of Mt. Snowdon. The weather in the valleys was sunny and warm, and the view on the way up was fantastic. The top of Snowdon was misty and cold, and there was no view at all.

There is a cafe at the top, but Little Brother wanted to walk around, so he and I went up a few yards to the summit while everyone else had hot tea in the cafe.

We had more great views on the way down, and the kids were pretty excited about the whole adventure.

We concluded our Wales trip with dinner in Beaumaris, after which the kids played in the shadow of Beaumaris Castle while the grownups watched the setting sun shining on the hills on Snowdonia across the straight. On our way to Birmingham to visit friends from the Program, we stopped at the Bodnant Gardens, which was very nice, and the kids got a chance to run and explore the grounds, then had lunch in Conwy (another castle town.)
