Little Brother played his last soccer game for the season. He loved playing defender.

We trained to NYC last weekend, and saw Lion King on Broadway. We had fantastic seats and it was a great show--the kids were awestruck. We visited with Ethan and Ronit and had a fun time at a Central Park playground, Carnegie Deli, brunch and Strauss Park. Thanks E for scoring the tickets, and thanks Mrs. S. for letting us use your apartment.

Many of the visitors to this site arrive via a search engine. Among the popular search terms that point surfers to these pages are "braids", "Legoland" and "Bob the Builder". The Bob the Builder song is apparently very popular in the UK right now...

We had a nice trip to visit with Connie and Dave. Little Brother and Dave have birthdays a couple of days apart, and getting together for them has become an annual event--two years ago in Davidson, last year in England and in Davidson again this year (pictures on the way).

A few weeks ago Little Brother and I took advantage of some sunny, chilly weather to take a hike along the aptly-named Billy Goat Trail by the Potomac River.

We're in the midst of flu season in our house. I put together a page of favorite pictures of the kids in England from 2000, as a companion to the 1999 version. Here's some info on visits to these pages over the past 12 months.

We had a fun New Year's trip to Baltimore to visit with friends. Since then, Big Sister has started swimming lessons. Little Brother starts his lessons in a couple of weeks. We replaced the roof on our house--one of several needed maintenance jobs we had put off for a year. We had snow on the ground for a couple of weeks after Christmas. It finally melted away in the rain over the last week, only to be replaced by about 3 inches of fresh powder last night. Mary Ellen got promoted at work, getting in just before the new Administration freezes that kind of thing.

Mary Ellen and I finally started to write a journal about our trip to England. We've just put together the timeline (went here, then went there) and were both struck by the amount of travel, both for the fellowship and on our own. If we had known before accepting the fellowship that amount of time we'd spend hauling the kids around the country on planes, trains and automobiles we'd have taken a third look at whether it was a good idea.
