Old News, 2000

December 26, 2000

We had a very nice Christmas... The kids loved seeing their grandmas and cousins and aunts and uncles -- and getting gifts, of course. There was snow on the ground -- that makes two years in a row, and the kids now think Christmas is always white.

December 19, 2000

The kids saw Santa Claus, which as fun, and made tree ornaments, which was really fun, at Little Brother's school. Big Sister lost her other front tooth, and has been singing that song...

November 28

We had a really nice Thanksgiving in Rochester. The kids had a great time visiting and sleeping over with their cousins and with Oma. It was not too cold, and there was just enough snow for playing and making snowladies.

November 20

Big Sister has started Brownies...

We had a back-yard camp-out in the tent, complete with flash lights and breakfast bars. It was a chilly and very windy night, and Little Brother and Mary Ellen bailed out halfway through. Big Sister and I had breakfast bars in the tent as the sun came up.

Our former home-town of York suffered tremendous flooding -- the worst in 400 years. There were dramatic pictures on the Council web site. Fortunately, none of our friends there were flooded out of their homes.

Halloween was pretty exciting -- there are enough kids in the neighborhood now that there are several groups walking around. Big Sister was Cleopatra and Little Brother was a knight (although much of the official costume was discarded as the evening wore on.)

October 30

OK, most pages should be fixed. The kids are very excited about Halloween...

October 18

I seem to have broken these pages for folks using the Netscape browser. If I've done so for you, would you send me an email and let me know what version of NS you use? Thanks. Or, you could get Internet Explorer version 5.5 and live large... In the meantime, I am uploading fixed pages, so this place will look pretty messy for a few days...

October 17

More pictures... I've added some Ireland pictures--without commentary for now. Use the links here to view the pictures, then use the BACK button to return to this page... Mary Ellen and the kids at the O'Connell statue on O'Connell Street in Dublin. The interior of the North Williams Street Church, Dublin, where my great-grandparents where married. The grave of my great-great grandparents in Dublin. Famous burial mound at Newgrange. A misty day at the Cliffs of Mohr. Mary Ellen and Big Sister at the Cliffs. Little Brother at the beach at Ballybunion. Mary Ellen and the kids, same beach. Kids feeding a goat at the farmhouse B&B. More to come...

Such as... Big Sister, Mom-mom and Little Brother riding horses and Little Sister on her horse. On a very rainy day in the Connamarra National Park, Little Brother and I left the ladies and took a walk along a woodland trail. The moss-covered rocks, rain and dark wood made for a very exciting adventure. The rain stopped as we arrived at a lake. We took a drive to the other end of the valley to a scenic overlook (large picture!) called the Ladies Seat. We drove around the Dingle Penisula, stopping at the beach at Inch. The view from the tip of the peninsula was impressive--the kids liked the cows, too. We also enjoyed great views from Connor Pass (large pictures!), through the mountains that bisect the peninsula. More to come... And I'll re-visit this page and correct the place-name misspellings when I get to my notes...

October 12

Big Sister lost one of her front teeth -- she looks goofy, but in a good way. In England, the Tooth Fairy paid a 50 pence coin. In America, the tooth Fairy pays a dollar coin. It was a bit much to explain that they are about the same, really. A week ago I started my new job and spent most of the week traveling and getting oriented.

October 2

I moved the England stuff (the beer pages, and the like) to the Play section, where it now belongs.

September 29

Thank you for the happy birthday cards. Nearly every one of them said "welcome to the club." It seems I hang out with an older crowd...

September 24

Happy Anniversary to us...

September 22

Hearing is the second thing to go. I SAID, HEARING... never mind. Actual snippet of dinner-time conversation:
Big Sister: "We looked at the Olympics in school today."
Mommy: "You looked at alien pigs at school?"

September 12

How to mortify a your 6-year old daughter: ask her at the bus stop, in front of the older kids, if she'd like to hold hands. No? How about if we sing a song ("Cauliflower fluffy, and cabbages green...") or dance a bit. Da-ddeeee!

September 11

We had a nice little family party for Mary Ellen's entry into Club 40-something. Big Sister wanted to get a single earring so "Mommy can get her belly button pierced and put the earring there." Where do they come up with this? We are now soccer-parents. The kids had games this weekend and they each had a blast. I'm tweaking the layout here, so pardon if anything breaks...

September 6

Happy Birthday Mary Ellen!

It seems like only yesterday you were 39!

September 4

Kevin and Diane*2 visited over the long weekend. It was great to see them, and we all got some back-to-school shopping done. We're still eating left-over ribs and sticky chicken...

We went to the Zoo yesterday. It was surprisingly uncrowded. The kids remembered going there before we went to England.

August 28

We had great weather at the beach--temperatures in the low 80s and only one overcast day. The kids had fun with their cousins. Little Brother took to the water after a couple of years of staying as far away as he could. Big Sister was in the waves from the moment we arrived.

August 19

Next update: August 27, at the earliest.

August 11

I've been pretty slack about updating these pages. Blame the nice weather, lack of disk space and general need to do other things. I'll put up pictures of Ireland in several days. Really. Today we're off for a weekend with old friends.

August 1

The weather has been pretty nice here -- not blazing hot -- and we've spent a lot of time outdoors. Hence, few updates here. ME managed to get a systemic allergic reaction to something in the garden--I didn't suggest that it might be those big rocks we haul from the neighborhood construction site under cover of dusk and dump into our garden. I have a job interview today, and it feels good to get that process started--no systemic allergy to work, so far.

July 27

Happy Birthday to Kevin!

July 26

Raining again... It seems to rain here more than in England.

July 24

We've had a week to get back into things, and the house is, mostly, put back together. Kevin and Diane came for a nice visit this weekend, and we had a miniature golf showdown. Mary Ellen returns to work today--her carpool with some neighbors leaves at 6:30 AM...

July 19

Extravagantly wide streets, a clothes dryer, heat, humidity, a yard to mow... we must be back in the US. The kids were fantastic on the trip home, and have been out seeing their old friends from the neighborhood and meeting some of the new kids on the block.

July 11

My efforts to publish some of the Ireland pictures before we return to the US have been overtaken by events--meaning, we've sold the computer and we're packing up. New updates here will have to wait until we've unpacked and set up our house again--sometime next week.

July 10

We're getting down to the wire. We've spent the last few days cleaning and organizing: the kids bikes and the computer are sold, books and clothes sorted to be given away, and lots of accumulated stuff heaved out. The kids are excited about going "home", although Big Sister is also says she is a little sad about leaving her school friends. She's probably more sad than she is letting on. Friday evening she had a school chum sleep over--dressing up and having a disco was the theme, and the girls were pretty tolerant of Little Brother. The next day we had a nice grownups evening with the parents of the school friend.

We've met some very nice folks in York. They've been welcoming and friendly and helpful and generally done much to make our stay here a fantastic experience. Thanks, cheers and ta to Roger and Sarah (and Jack and Joey), Peter and Karen (and Ben), Martin and Liz (and Bethan and Owain, too) and to Matthew and Sarah (and Cathy and Becky.)

July 7

This past weekend we drove to Bath, in south-west England. The town is almost entirely Georgian (neo-classical), with a hot spring mineral bath as its centerpiece. The Roman ruins and subsequent additions to the bath made for a nice tour. The town, however, and the Cotswold towns we drive through, were a bit too twee for me. Everybody else seemed like them, though.

We kept the car for a few extra days, and I took another trip to Ingleborough, were the weather was overcast but the view from the top was much better (finally.) Yesterday after school we took the kids to Brimham Rocks as scrambled around the weird rock formations. The kids had a great time--and Mary Ellen nearly had a nervous breakdown as we jumped over some large gaps. Little Brother got his face painted at school, and had fun pretending to be Spiderman on the rocks.

July 4

Happy 4th. For some reason, there won't be fireworks in York this evening.

June 29

Just over two weeks until we go. We've been talking up home to the kids and they are getting excited about seeing the house and their toys and friends.

Picture backlog... playing in the Museum Gardens in May. Long weekend in Wales, also in May.

June 21

I'm starting to catch up with the pictures from the past couple of months. We have some shots of our recent kid-free getaway to the Lake District, where we took a walk up Wansfell and some of the Langdale Pikes. In York, the Minster got some new bells last month. Still to come: Wales and Ireland.

June 20

Yesterday evening at dinner Big Sister lost another tooth--her third...

June 19

We had a fun weekend in the Lakes with great weather, two nice walks and fantastic views. There will be pictures from the walks soon... On Saturday evening we went to a pub in Ambleside to watch England play Germany in a Euro 2000 qualifying match. Germany is a traditional rival, whom England has not beaten in an important match in years. We arrived well before game time, and the place was packed. The DJ played "Jerusalem" and "Vindaloo" at thorax-thumping volume, and the crowd responded by singing (well, screaming) along for 45 minutes. And that was before kick-off. The game was mediocre, and England scored the only goal a few minutes after the half. When the game ended, the crowd erupted, beer went flying and we scampered out before things got uglier. Great fun...

June 16

We've been pretty busy the past few weeks, and updates here have been slim. Too many pictures to sort through is part of the problem... ME has been working on her paper and a presentation to the Housing Policy center at the University. I've been busy with the kids. It is hard to believe we leave in one month. I think we are all looking forward to being back, although it is not clear that the kids realize it is a move, not a visit. We had a weekend visit from Pam, and it was fun to see her again. We all went to the seaside town of Whitby, then she went with ME and I on a pleasant walk along a series of waterfalls in the Dales. I dropped my camera half way through--it is a little banged up and might be on its last legs. This weekend ME and I sneak off for a couple of days in the Lake District, hiking and enjoying a little R and R. And watching England v Germany in Saturday night's Euro 2000 match.

June 9

Back from our web hiatus.... There are a lot of pictures to sort through and they'll start appearing here over the next few days.

May 24

Little Brother invited one of his nursery friends over after school today. They were a couple of wild and silly guys. I don't know the age at which kids start drawing with perspective, but Big Sister drew a barnyard scene today with perspective and that really impressed me.

I updated the guide to British-English.

May 23

We had a very nice trip to Wales. There was a pool at the hotel in Cardiff, so the kids went swimming a lot. We went to TechniQuest, a hands-on science fair for kids--great stuff. And Cardiff Castle was fantastic. Of course, Mary Ellen spent the days in meetings, so didn't get to enjoy much of the fun. We said good-bye to several of the Fellows--a friendly and interesting group of very nice folks. We drove up to northern Wales, and I have chosen Snowdonia as the place I will retire to in August or so--a beautiful area.

May 16

More recent pictures: our family picnic and walk around Ingleborough Cave, my walk to Pen-y-ghent, and our walk around Kilburn. We're heading to Cardiff, where Mary Ellen will present her research findings to the other Fellows and the British Council. The rest of us get to play...

May 9

At long last, some pictures from the last couple of weeks... the London Eye, around York, and the kids at Fountains Abbey...

May 4

Happy Birthday to Connie from the entire crew at the Beer Research Project

May 3

We've had a busy couple of weeks. With Oma and Evelyn and the kids we went to London to see the Horse Guards, the Tower of London and the London Eye. In York we went to the Minster, the National Railway Museum, The Shambles, and the Market. With Kevin and Diane we went to London and saw the Horse Guards, Tower of London and the Eye, as well as Westminster Abbey--and in York, the Minster and the other sights. Mom-mom, Kevin and Diane went to the York Dungeon--Big Sister and I made it exactly 3 steps inside the doorway when she turned around and said "I'm too scared!" and out we went. In addition, of course, we took Kevin to some of the many quality pubs in York. Which brings us to the beer page update, including the new Pub list...

Big Sister has taken to writing a journal every night--she was impressed by the examples of her older cousins. Today the kids go back to school....

April 24

Evelyn and Oma and the kids lieft early this morning, and Kevin and Diane arrived yesterday afternoon. More sightseeing. Pictures, too, when I get some time to put them up...

April 15

Oma and Evelyn and the kids arrived yesterday. They're still getting their sleep schedules sorted. Tonight they'll get the opportunity to watch the snooker championship on TV. It is worth coming to England for that alone. Tonight we had another chapter in the extended birthday celebrations. Oma exercised her grandparent prerogative and gave a lovely loud noise-making toy to Little Brother. Big Sister got a camera--and there will be pictures soon.

April 13

We had a busy weekend--we had a nice visit from the family of another Fellow. Big Sister and Little Brother always enjoy seeing the two children. Big Sister took her first trip to the top of the Minster. On Wednesday, I took the day off and went for a walk up Ingleborough. The weather was poor and the view was non-existent, but I had fun anyway.

April 10

Pictures of St. Wilfrid's Church, in York, a few steps from the Minster.

April 7

A couple of new book reviews today.

Today Big Sister has an Easter parade at school. We decorated a hat for her to wear, and she picked out a springtime dress to wear. She was pretty happy as she went off to school. We had a family party in the evening to celebrate her 6th birthday.

Happy 6th Birthday Big Sister!

April 3

We went to the Lake District this past weekend, staying in a B&B in Windermere and spending a day wandering around Grasmere, having a picnic and going on a little walk overlooking Rydal Water. The kids enjoyed climbing around. Little Brother scrambled up and down every rock he could find, and Big Sister loved spotting sheep with the binoculars. The clouds and rain closed in on Sunday, and we drove to Hutton-le-Hole in the North York Moors. The town is very cute, and the kids enjoyed slipping and sliding on the wet grass and mud as they ran after sheep grazing on the common.

March 30

Today Little Brother came home from school with the knee ripped out of his pants. I asked him why his pants were ripped and he said "Because I'm four years old." I couldn't argue with that.

March 26

Yesterday we refined our cycling skills, and today the kids displayed some "Bongo Fury" then the grownups (and the kids, of course) had a party--several Fellows and York friends came over for lunch.

March 24

Other Fellows arrive in York today--we're hosting a lunch at our house on Sunday. New pictures: The kids in their new bikes, springtime daffodils in bloom and the ruins of St. Mary's in the Museum Gardens.

March 23

We got a two-wheeler for Little Brother--with stabilizers. Now he can keep up with his sister....

March 20

Big Sister has just about got the two-wheeler going. Balancing and pedalling are fine, steering and stopping need some more work. We couldn't find corned beef (not a big surprise) so we had Indian food for St. Patrick's Day.

March 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Everyone feels under the weather here with colds, coughs and runny noses, but we will still try to have corned beef and cabbage, and maybe a pint of Guinness. We got a bike for Big Sister yesterday--no training wheels--and she did a good job learning to ride a two-wheeler.

March 14

The Tooth Fairy visited for the first time and Big Sister has a 50p coin to show for it. New pictures from the past couple of weeks. We celebrated birthdays for Little Brother and our friend Dave, then Connie and Dave and Mary Ellen and I went for some walks in Malham in the Yorkshire Dales and Goathland in the North York Moors.

March 10

Yesterday we went to Edinburgh for the day and walked around the city for a few hours.

March 9

Connie and Dave arrived on Saturday, and we had another party to celebrate Little Brother's birthday and Dave's birthday. For the past several days we've been showing our friends around York and some of Yorkshire. On Tuesday we went to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales for a walk around the limestone scars--we went from birthday party to Donner Party. Yesterday we went to Goathland in the North York Moors for a view of the Mallyan Spout waterfall, the Roman Road and the Wheeldale moors. This was The Long March. Pictures in a few days...

March 6

Pictures from Little Brother's birthday -- the first party.

March 4

The theme of Little Brother's party was Bob the Builder, and everybody had the theme song looping through their head... Bob the Builder can we fix it? YES WE CAN!

March 3

Happy 4th Birthday to our big boy!

March 1

Mary Ellen is off to meetings in Belfast. The rest of us are getting ready for Little Brother's 4th birthday. He's counting down the days. He requested pizza for his birthday, so we'll have a family party with pizza-making on Friday evening. We'll have another party with Connie and Dave on Saturday evening to celebrate Dave's birthday. I hope he wants Kraft Macaroni and Cheese for his birthday meal.

February 28

It occurred to us that in some ways living in our house here in York resembles life on space station Mir--far from "home", cluttered, leaking cold air and, most importantly, dependent on the occasional supply ship. The next relief is scheduled to arrive this weekend. Connie and Dave will visit, bringing friendly faces, news of home and, of course, several boxes of good 'ole Merkin-style Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

We saw American Beauty a few days ago--our first grown-up movie in about 18 months. We liked it, mostly.

I just realized that the Daily Picture (which used to be daily and is now a little less so) started about a year ago on Febrary 17th. Here's the picture from that date.

February 25

Yesterday was the start of the Jorvik Viking Festival in York. Little Brother and I went into town to meet some Vikings. Today we went to the playground and later found a car just the right size for Big Sister.

February 23

This page should look like this. Over the past month or so, there have been many new visitors to this site, including several who use AOL or Macintosh (or both) or Windows NT. I use several techniques to format this site that might not work with your browser. This is more likely if you use an older browser or a Mac. I can't test this site on those browsers, so I would appreciate your help. Please email me and let me know what this page looks like if a) you use a Mac and/or AOL to view this site, or b) the site looks badly formatted (e.g. the menu above appears black, or this paragraph fails to appear in the center of the page between the small Daily Picture and the "Old News" link) and tell me the browser and computer you use. Thanks.

February 22

After months of telling the kids about how wonderful the local peacock would look if he would only display his tail, the bird finally delivered for Little Brother and me.

We took a train ride to Scarborough, on the Yorkshire coast, and walked around the seaside and climed up to the imposing castle ruins. Nice views all around.

About this time one year ago the kids were racing around in a laundry basket...

February 20

Happy 94th Birthday to Aunt Ann!

On Thursday evening, Big Sister was initiated into Rainbows, a pre-Brownies group. She was very excited. On Friday after school, we walked into town and bought a purple tabard--she skipped the whole way. Last night ME sewed on the appropriate patches. Big Sister was bouncing off the walls. All this was build-up to the all-day Rainbows and Brownies meeting, held today. She had a great time, and came home singing.

February 18

In a fit of, admittedly, sheer genius, I've christened the beer page as the Beer Research Project (BRP) and added a bit on Belgian beer. I've also added some notes on hotels and food in Brussels and Brugge.

February 17

I've put up some of our pictures of the trip to Belgium. The kids with friends and family during our trip to Brussels. In Brugge, we went on a horse-drawn carriage, climbed the 366 steps of the Belfry, and walked around and enjoyed the bridges, waterways (several) and great views.

February 15

Back from our trip... We went to London on Tuesday, the 8th. The kids and Mom-mom took a trip to the Millennium Dome (mixed reviews on that) and the Fellows and their spouses went first to the American Embassy, where we met with the Ambassador. We walked to 10 Downing Street, the British equivalent to the White House, where we got a tour and had a grip and grin with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair. We don't often get to name drop here at K-O WWW HQ, so please indulge us.

We left early on Wednesday for Brussels, where the Fellows had a series of briefings on NATO and the European Union. The spouses and respective youngsters got together and saw a little of the city -- mixed reviews there, too. Some of the city is attractive, some is not. Our kids' favourite parts were getting together with the families of the other Fellows, and our visit to the Children's Science Museum--a very hands-on place. The waffles and crepes were pretty tasty. The fish was very good, as were the French fries. We bought some great chocolate. The beer in Belgium is fantastic. We went to Brugge, a hour by train, for the weekend. Brugge is unrelentingly picturesque and very nice for walking. We'll have pictures over the next few days.

February 7

I got an email from my cousin Jeanne, who found the email address through an Internet search. She's putting together a family tree, and would like to have a draft ready for Aunt Ann's 94th birthday in a few weeks. Great idea!

We're travelling for the next several days. We'll spend a day in London, where Mom-mom and the kids will visit the Millennium Dome. ME and the other Fellows (and their spouses) are scheduled to meet the Prime Minister. We'll see about that. We then travel to Belgium for several days. The Fellows have meetings in Brussels, while the rest of us get to see the sites. We'll spend the weekend in Bruges for more site-seeing. Belgium is famous for fine food, chocolate and beer--something for everyone for St. Valentines Day...

February 5

Today we're off to check out Jorvik the Viking and to see "Thunderbirds 6" at the new City Screen cinema. You probably remember the T-Birds from the 60's -- sci-fi marionettes who flew cool airplanes (rather, aeroplanes) and rockets and rescued those in trouble. The special effects are very old-fashioned, and that's the charm. I'd like to see Diver Dan and Gigantor, too. We updated the guide to British-English.

February 1

I've added a couple of book reviews in the Play area. Want to translate this page to German? You can also use the link below the mini Daily Picture on this page...

January 31

Residents First Weekend was on for the past couple of days. This allows the Yorkies (including us) to enjoy many of the sites and activities in the city for free. We went on the river tour boat then to the Minster again to visit the undercroft. Due to nagging coughs and nasty weather, that's all we could do this weekend.

I've added a a few pictures of our climb to the top of the Minster last week.

January 27

Little Brother and I climbed the Minster today; 275 steps up, and the same number down. We made another visit down into the crypt and undercroft, too. Prowling the Minster has become Little Brother's favorite activity in York.

January 26

Cultural high points we missed: "The company are asked to stand to receive the haggis."

I've been keeping statistics on visits to this site for a year. Here are some of the results.

January 22

While Mary Ellen and Big Sister stayed home and made banana bread, Mom-mom, Little Brother and I took the train to Durham, a small city 45 minutes north of York. It is the home of England's third oldest university and an impressive Norman-style cathedral. We visited the cathedral (final resting place of Venerable Bede and St. Curthbert) where Little Brother and I climbed 325 steps to the top of the highest bell tower in Europe. It was cold and windy and raining at the top (slippery wooden slats cover the pitched roof atop the tower) so we enjoyed the view for just a few minutes then clambered back down. Little Brother was quite chuffed that he managed all 650 steps by himself. When we got down we listened to organ music for a while. I suggested that we go find some hot chocolate, but Little Brother said he wanted to "stay and think about the music" for a few more minutes. So we did.

January 20

Photographing the Minster is difficult with my camera: the light inside is often low and it is tough to view the exterior from a wide enough angle. But sometimes the sun comes out (or in) and the crowds part and the view is fine.

January 18

I'm tweaking the layout of this site again. Let me know if I break anything for your browser.

January 15

We held off on visiting several York tourist sites until this month and next, figuring the kids would need some foul-weather distractions. Today we climbed Clifford's Tower, and enjoyed a very nice view over the city. We also visited the York Castle Museum, which has exhibits reflecting life in York and Yorkshire over the past several hundred years, including the important role of chocolate. It was a lot of walking for the kids, but they held up well; Little Brother rallied and insisted on a visit to the Minster (he is as obsessed with churches as his sister is afraid of them.) We went down to the Treasury and Crypt and saw remains of the Roman fort and subsequent Norman church over which the present Minster was built. Great stuff.

January 13

We broke down and rented a larger TV (24" to replace the 11" model we had) and a VCR. Big Sister feels much better, and will go back to school tomorrow. This evening she goes to her first Brownies meeting. Later Mom-mom and Mary Ellen go to a yoga class.

Some old pictures, taken over two years ago: Little Brother at about 1 year and Big Sister about 3 years.

January 12

Big Sister has been home from school for a few days due to the chicken pox. She seems to be teaching herself to write in cursive...

January 10

Happy Birthday Diane!
We hope you have fun today.

We've added the pictures of our visit with our German relations. We stayed with Cousin Elfriede and Herbert and spent Christmas Eve with them. On Christmas Day, we went to a big family dinner at the house of their daughter Monika and her husband Rickard.

A few days later Oma joined us and it was like Christmas deja vu all over again. We visited Munich where we had our strange encounter with the Bunny Man, and where Little Brother wanted to explore every church we saw and Big Sister wanted no part of any of them.

On New Year's Eve there was another big family party to celebrate Silvester at Elfriede's, complete with lots of fireworks at midnight. On the 1st we visited with Hubert and Maria, had coffee and cake, and got to speak English with Bernd.

Then, another family party with Fritz and Edith and more great food. Helmut and Renate put up Mom and Oma--and their birds were a big hit with the kids. Cousin Franz and his family drove in for a visit (the pictures didn't come out, though) and we went to Munich again. We did some more visiting, and then Little Brother finally conked out on the way to York.

January 9

All parents think their kids are among the select few; now we have proof. The vaccine against Chicken Pox is effective in 70% to 90% of cases, and both Big Sister and Little Brother were vaccinated. Well, we now know that Big Sister is in the minority. So far, it doesn't look like a bad case.

January 5

We returned yesterday from a very nice visit to Germany -- pictures will arrive soon. The weather was cold (and windy) and it was a white Christmas. We had fun visiting with Mary Ellen's relatives, who where very gracious and tried their best to do us in with food and coffee (and later, schnapps.) The kids met their second cousins and everybody got along fine -- despite not being able to talk with each other... For the grownups, Mary Ellen and Fran translated.

German TV has improved in the last five years -- I watched a late night show that was a well done and hilarious parody of an American football game telecast (dubbed in German, of course) in which the Washington Redskins defeated the San Francisco 49ers and won the NFC East title. Where do they get this stuff? Brilliant, if not subtle.
